Kuala Lumpur, Dec. 26 -- : Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has been charged with abuse of power in his second trial into the multi-billion Malaysian Development Berhad (MDB) graft scandal, which resulted in the plunder and massive monetary losses from the now-defunct sovereign wealth fund.

The verdict carries with it several significant legal and political implications, potentially reshaping Kuala Lumpur's socio-political landscape in drastic ways.

Delivering the verdict, High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah said the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt on the first charge.
