Madurai, April 6 -- Former Kerala Minister and Rajya Sabha member
M A Baby was elected as the National General Secretary of the CPI(M)
here on Sunday.
He was elected to the post which fell vacant following the death of veteran
leader and comrade Sitaram Yechury.
Mr Baby was elected on the concluding day of the five-day 24th National
Congress of the CPI(M) here today.
Seventy-year-old Baby had served as Rajya Sabha members from 1986
to 1998 and was a member of the CPI(M) Politburo,the highest decision-
making body of the party.
