New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- A Special CBI court in Ranchi on Friday convicted ten individuals, including former Jharkhand minister Anosh Ekka and his wife Menon Ekka, in a case related to illegal land acquisition and violations of the Chotanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act.
The CBI lodged the case in 2010 following the order of Jharkhand High Court.
There were allegations against the accused of amassing disproportionate assets and forging documents to acquire land from members of scheduled tribes.
Anosh Ekka was found to have purchased large plots of land in his wife's name worth over Rs. 1.18 crore by illegally bypassing the protective laws.
