Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 5 -- Senior BJP leader and former Kerala Director General of Police R. Sreelekha (Rtd IPS) has publicly expressed strong disappointment with her own party over the decision on the mayoral post of the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation, alleging that the leadership went back on its assurance to her.
Sreelekha said she had entered the local body elections after being clearly assured by the party leadership that she would be considered the BJP's mayoral candidate if the party secured power in the corporation.
She maintained that this promise was a key factor behind her decision to contest and actively campaign in the elections.
