Gorakhpur, Jan. 7 -- Former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, lodged in Deoria District Jail in connection with a fraud case, was rushed to hospital late Tuesday night after his health suddenly deteriorated.
He complained of severe chest pain and restlessness, following which jail authorities immediately took him to Deoria Medical College, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
After preliminary examination, Doctors assessed his condition as critical and referred him to Gorakhpur Medical College at around 2 am.
According to sources, Doctors in Gorakhpur have suspected a possible heart attack. He is currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of specialist Doctors.
