Shahjahanpur, Dec. 10 -- Former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur was arrested by the Lucknow Crime Branch around 2 am on Wednesday at Shahjahanpur Junction while he was on his way to Delhi by the Lucknow Superfast Express.
As soon as the train halted, police personnel already present at the station escorted him out of the AC coach and took him into custody.
He has been taken to Deoria for questioning in a land allotment case registered there. According to Thakur's wife, social activist Nutan Thakur, an FIR related to a land-allotment dispute was filed against both of them by Lucknow Police three months ago in Deoria. She claimed that she had vacated the disputed land nearly 25 years earlier.
