Shimla, Sept. 2 -- Former Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) ID Bhandari passed away following a heart attack today.
He breathed his last at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, around 3.30 pm.
Bhandari, a 1982-batch IPS officer originally from Bilaspur, had been residing in Kasumpti, Shimla. His cremation will take place tomorrow in his native village in Bilaspur district. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Known as a tough officer, Bhandari served the Himachal Pradesh Police in several key positions including DG Police, DG (CID), and DG Vigilance.
