New Delhi, Dec. 26 -- Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former MLA Sanchita Mohanty passed away at her residence on Friday after a brief illness, according to family sources.
She succumbed to illness at her residence in Bhubaneswar.
Sixty-seven-year-old Sanchita Mohanty represented the Korei Assembly constituency in Jajpur district from 2004 to 2009.
During her tenure, she prioritised local development initiatives. She was diagnosed with cancer a week ago.
She had attended her grandson's birthday party on Thursday night and suddenly collapsed around 7:40 am on Friday, her son Satyakam Mohanty stated.
