Hamirpur/Lucknow, Dec. 13 -- Former BJP district president and former parliamentary candidate Pritam Singh, who had been missing for 55 days, was finally traced by the police. He was found hiding in a house in the Dubagga area of Lucknow.

Acting on specific inputs, the police reached the location and recovered the BJP leader, police said on Saturday.

According to sources, Pritam Singh had deliberately gone underground to "teach the police a lesson." His disappearance had triggered a major controversy and intense scrutiny of the Hamirpur police, including sharp remarks from the Allahabad High Court.

The matter dates back to October 18, when a dispute broke out at Pritam Singh's petrol pump in Rath town of Hamirpur district.
