Bhubaneswar, Nov. 3 -- Former BJD Rajya Sabha MP Amar Patnaik today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, BJP state president Manmohan Samal, and the party's Odisha in-charge Vijaya Pal Singh Tomar.

An Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS) officer from the 1990 batch, Amar Patnaik held senior positions as Principal Accountant General (PAG) in Sikkim, Odisha, West Bengal, and Kerala.

During his tenure, he exposed several irregularities in Odisha, including issues related to government land allotments and revenue discrepancies in electricity distribution companies.
