Bilaspur, Oct. 20 -- Senior Congress leader and former Himachal Pradesh MLA Dr. Babu Ram Gautam passed away at his residence here last night after a prolonged illness, the party announced.
Gautam, 72, was under treatment at AIIMS Bilaspur for some time.
Gautam, remembered for his remarkable contributions in politics, administration, and social service, breathed his last surrounded by family members. He was serving as the State President of the Former Legislative Council and had remained actively involved in various social initiatives throughout his life.
A respected figure in Bilaspur's political landscape, Dr. Gautam had contested the 1985 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections on a Congress ticket and defeated the BJP's Sada Ram. In 1990,...
