Pune, Aug. 14 -- Those in power must bear the responsibility of ensuring that laws are not misused for political purposes, stressed former head of the western Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Bhanupratap Berge. Speaking against the backdrop of debates between ruling and opposition parties over the necessity and potential misuse of the Public Security Act, Berge underlined that the true respect and impact of any law could only be ensured if enforcement agencies were allowed to operate independently, without political pressure.
