Itanagar, Aug. 29 -- Former Arunachal Pradesh Minister Thinghaap Taiju passed away at his residence in Changlang district on Friday.

Taiju, 70, is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter.

His family sources said Taiju had been unwell for the past two days and was on oxygen support.

A veteran leader from Changlang district, Taiju served as an Anchal Samity Member (ASM) before being elected as MLA for three terms (1995-2004 and 2009-2014).

During his political career, he held key positions including Deputy Minister, State Minister, and Parliamentary Secretary in the Congress regime.

He was widely respected for his commitment to grassroots development and his service to the people of the Changlang North constituency.
