Kabul, Jan. 22 -- Former Afghan Finance Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Ahadi, reacting to Kabul's attempts to rebuild the country's destroyed economy, said that many of the conditions required for attracting investment, domestic or international, simply do not exist under the Taliban regime thanks to their hardline Islamist policies.

Criticising the Taliban's political framework, Ahadi cited the massive security concerns in the country, the absence of any kind of legal framework, lack of infrastructure, and an orthodox polity where clerics dominate all state institutions; all of which serve only to drive away prospects of investment.
