Siliguri, Dec. 16 -- Security forces in a joint action on Tuesday foiled the proposed indefinite 'rail roko' (rail blockade) protest in parts of north Bengal and neighbouring Assam called by the Kamatapur State Demand Council (KSDC) pressing for a separate Kamatapur state and Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for the community and recognition of their language in the eighth schedule of the Constitution.
KSDC activists, supported by some splinter groups from Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) and other Rajbanshi groups, called a 100-hour 'rail roko' in parts of north Bengal, including Maynaguri, Cooch Behar and some other stations and Dhubri in Assam under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) to assemble on the tracks in early hours.
