Ch. Sambhajinagar, Oct. 31 -- Maharashtra's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized 42,294 kilograms of edible oil as part of an extensive crackdown on food adulteration during the festive season.

The operation, launched in August, also led to the confiscation of adulterated bhagar (barnyard millet), tikhat (chilly powder) and spices, with the total value of seized goods estimated at Rs 92,96,760, according to Food Safety Officer Srinivas Kedar.

The drive began on August 11 under the initiative titled 'San Maharashtra's resolve for food safety', with officials targeting increased adulteration risks during festival periods.
