New Delhi, Feb. 1 -- The union Finance Minister on Sunday announced a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening India's higher education ecosystem and aligning skill development with employment opportunities.

Presenting the Budget proposals, the Finance Minister said the government will invest in setting up new institutes, university townships, girls' hostels and telescope infrastructure facilities to expand access to quality education across the country.

Highlighting the rapid growth of India's Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) sector, which is projected to require nearly two million professionals by 2030, the Finance Minister announced support for the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies, Mumbai.
