Chandigarh, Aug. 18 -- : Heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir has triggered widespread flooding in Punjab, with six districts Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Tarn Taran, and Fazilka severely affected.

The Satluj and Ravi rivers are in spate, causing water levels to rise significantly. In Pathankot, several border outposts and villages are submerged under 2-3 feet of water, while floodwaters from the Beas River have inundated Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi, and Tarn Taran.
