Lucknow, July 2 -- With incessant rains continuing in eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh, all rivers flowing through the state were rising and were threatening the lower areas near the banks.

A Varanasi report said the water level of the Ganga in Varanasi has increased by 2.96 meters in the last 50 hours. Due to this, the stairs of the ghats are flooded.

Around 20 small temples located on the banks of the ghat have been submerged while flood waters have reached Manikarnika Ghat. Now police were stopping people from roaming on the ghats.

In Prayagraj, both Ganga and Yamuna were increasing with security personnel asking pilgrims not to use boats for reaching Triveni Sangam.
