Imphal, Sept. 18 -- The flood situation in Manipur has shown signs of improvement, with water levels in major rivers slightly receding, allowing some displaced families to return home.

Most educational institutions, which were closed for two days, have reopened today.

According to official reports, 12 families from Urup Awang Leikai, who had taken shelter at the Madrassa Maktab Flood Relief Camp, have returned to their homes, leading to the camp's official closure.

Similarly, two other relief camps in Sawombung were also closed after the affected residents resettled.
