Lucknow, July 1 -- Following widespread rains during the past 48 hours in the entire Uttar Pradesh and catchment areas of the rivers in Nepal, a flood-like situation has started emerging in the state.



According to reports here today, Nepal has released 37,000 cusecs of water from Rapti Barrage, and due to this, the Rapti river in Balrampur is in spate and threat of floods has started looming.

Already flood waters have entered 12 villages in Balrampur district and in many places, sugarcane and paddy crops have merged into the river.



In Amroha, the water level of the Ganga river has increased by 30 cm due to continuous rains in Uttarakhand. Due to this, the several temporary sheds on the river bank have been submerged.
