Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 2 -- Candidates who fail to submit their election expense accounts within the prescribed time will face disqualification for five years from continuing as elected members and from contesting future local body elections, according to the Kerala State Election Commission.
All candidates who contested the general elections to local self-government institutions have been instructed to submit their election expenditure statements online on or before January 12, Kerala State Election Commissioner A. Shahjahan has said.
The disqualification will take effect from the date of the Election Commission's order, he cautioned.
