Shimla, March 23 -- State Government informed the Assembly on Monday that five officers at the directorate level did not mark biometric attendance, citing administrative and functional reasons, while asserting that no officer remained absent without authorization in the past three years.
In a written reply tabled in the House, the government said biometric attendance has been made mandatory at the directorate level. However, details revealed that Parveen Chandra Gupta , Additional Director in the Department of Environment, Science, Technology and Climate Change, did not mark biometric attendance as he was holding multiple additional charges, including responsibilities in the Pollution Control Board, making compliance impractical.
