Bhopal, Feb. 20 -- All five candidates - namely Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan, Umeshnath Maharaj, Bansilal Gurjar, Maya Naroliya (all BJP) and Ashok Singh (Congress) - were declared elected ''unopposed'' to the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, it was officially learnt.

The deadline for withdrawal of candidature expired at 1500 hours.

The 230-strong Assembly has 163 BJP members and 66 Congress ones.

The upper house tenures of Ajay Pratap Singh, Kailash Soni, Dharmendra Pradhan, L Murugan (all BJP) and Rajmani Patel (Cong) are concluding on April 2. UNI GV-AC CS1627
