Kolkata, Dec. 8 -- : The Election Commission of India (ECI) has deployed five additional observers to West Bengal to intensify monitoring of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.
The observers will oversee work across the state's five divisions - Presidency, Medinipur, Burdwan, Malda and Jalpaiguri - amid questions over earlier data submitted by district authorities.
The new observers are Kumar Ravikant Singh, Neeraj Kumar Bansod, Alok Tiwari, Pankaj Yadav and Krishnakumar Nirala.
They will work alongside the existing 12 SIR observers already stationed in various districts. The Commission had earlier appointed Subrata Gupta as the state's Special Observer.
