Chandrapur, Dec. 25 -- At least five people were killed and three others sustained serious injuries in a tragic road accident on the Rajura-Asifabad highway near Sondo village in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra late Wednesday night, police said.
The accident occurred when a car travelling from Nagpur to Kagaznagar reportedly lost control at a sharp bend, hit the bridge barrier and plunged into a roadside drain.
All the victims were travelling in the same vehicle.
The deceased have been identified as Saira Begum (45), Salma Begum (46), Afzal Begum (55), Aksa Shabreen (13), and another passenger who later succumbed to injuries during treatment.
