Washington, Aug. 23 -- As many as five people were killed when a tourist bus with 52 passengers lost control and skidded off the road in the United States, CNN reported, citing police.

Dozens were injured in the crash that occurred when the bus driver, carrying tourists from Niagara Falls to New York City, got distracted and lost control.

Some passengers were rescued while others were trapped inside the wreckage.

Emergency teams, including state and local police, ambulances, helicopters, and firefighters rushed to the accident site.New York State Police spokesman James O'Callaghan said the bus, driving at full speed, did not hit any other vehicles.
