Mumbai, Dec. 30 -- A major fire broke out in a chawl at Retibandar, Shivdi in South Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon after a cooking gas cylinder exploded, resulting in five houses being completely destroyed. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

According to a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) spokesperson, the blaze ignited inside a residential unit where an LPG cylinder burst. The flames rapidly spread to adjoining homes, triggering explosions of additional cylinders stored within the affected houses, intensifying the fire.
