Bengaluru, March 17 -- In a striking case of cyber deception, Karnataka Police have busted a gang that lured students with fake scholarship offers, only to use them as unwitting participants in a cybercrime network.
The operation, mainly in Gadag district, saw students persuaded to open bank accounts, which the accused then controlled to channel funds linked to illegal online gaming and other online crimes.
Five suspects, including locals from Vijayanagara and outsiders from Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, have been arrested.
