Bengaluru, Jan. 2 -- Karnataka police have seized five private firearms following the Ballari clash on Thursday night which left one person dead, officials said.
Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) R Hithendra confirmed that one of the gunmen involved died after being shot, and a suo motu case has been registered. "All five guns will be sent for forensic analysis to determine which weapon fired the fatal bullet. An internal inquiry is also underway," he told reporters.
The incident erupted between 9 am and 9:30 am over the installation of banners to mark Valmiki Jayanti, involving stone pelting, lathi charge, and gunfire by private individuals.
