Shillong, Nov. 3 -- Meghalaya police have foiled fresh attempt by once dreaded militant outfit, the Garo National Liberation Army - Regroup (GNLA-R), with the arrest of five of its cadres, including a minor, from along the India-Bangladesh border, a police official said today.
The major breakthrough was made following an FIR lodged at Nonghyllam Police Station under Ranikor Civil Sub-Division on October 28, 2025, by a businessman who received an extortion note of Rs.5.5 lakh and threatening calls allegedly from the GNLA-R.
Based on the FIR and credible intelligence inputs, police apprehended the prime suspect, Mann R. Marak (25) of Upper Rajapara in South West Khasi Hills district.
