Barabanki, Aug. 8 -- A tragic road accident occurred in Barabanki district today morning when a government roadways bus was struck by a falling tree. The accident claimed the lives of five people, including four women, among them a school teacher and two block-level government officers. One person remains critically injured.
The bus, carrying around 60 passengers, was en route from Barabanki to Haidergarh when the incident occurred around 11:00 am near Harkh Chauraha. According to eyewitnesses and CCTV footage, the bus swerved suddenly to avoid an animal that appeared on the road. In the process, it collided with an electricity pole and then slammed into a tree. The impact caused the tree to fall directly onto the bus, crushing its roof.
