Mumbai, Oct. 17 -- Police have registered an FIR against five persons for their alleged involvement in the forced marriage and repeated sexual assault of a minor girl in the neighbouring Palghar district.

Police sources said the girl's grandfather allegedly arranged her marriage to a man from Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, in September. Following the marriage, the victim was repeatedly sexually assaulted, and the groom's parents also mentally harassed her.

Based on a complaint filed by the minor, police have registered a case under the POSCO Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
