Mumbai, Nov. 29 -- Police have arrested five people for allegedly kidnapping a stock broker, assaulting him and demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh for his release, officials said here on Saturday.

The victim was rescued from a bar in Bandra area of the city suburb, after his wife alerted the police.

Upon receiving the information, a team of Khar police station raided the bar and rescued the victim as well as arrested the accused.

The arrested were identified as Viju Manikam Swami alias Tammi Anna, Jaya Bagve, Suhas Raghunath Bagve, Priyanshu, and Prashant Bhausaheb Jadhav.
