Ch. Sambhajinagar, Sept. 30 -- In a significant development for aspiring pilgrims, the Haj Committee of India released its first waiting list, with Maharashtra securing 5,574 additional seats for the Haj 2026 pilgrimage.

The Ch. Sambhajinagar district emerged as a major beneficiary with 487 additional applicants clearing the waitlist, bringing the district's total selected pilgrims to 1,320.

The state had initially received a quota of 12,467 seats.

The Maharashtra State Haj Committee received an overwhelming response with a total of 29,886 applications, comprising 3,247 from the reserved category and 26,639 from the general category.
