Srinagar, Oct. 3 -- In a major boost to J&K's logistics sector, the first-ever automobile rake was unloaded at the Goods Shed in Anantnag district today, marking the Valley's maiden direct rail delivery of new vehicles from manufacturing plants, officials said.
The rake, carrying over 116 passenger vehicles by Maruti Suzuki, including models like Brezza, Dzire, WagonR and S-Presso, departed from Maruti Suzuki India Limited's in-plant Gati Shakti Terminal (GCT) at Manesar Gurgaon on October 1 and reached the Anantnag railway terminal early todayRailway officials said the successful transportation was made possible due to the concerted efforts of the Business Development Unit (BDU) of the Jammu Division of Indian Railways.
