Chennai, Feb. 18 -- The Tamil Nadu Police today said it has registered the first case under the TN Money Lending Entities (Prevention of Coercive Actions) Act, 2025,after a person who purchased a JCB vehicle attempted self-immolation a couple of days back following harassment by the recovery agents of the lending agency.

The Act was enacted by the government to protect the poor and vulnerable people, especially farmers, women, and women's self-help groups, from harassment or coercive recovery methods used by money lending entities.
