Firozabad, Oct. 16 -- Tension gripped Madawali village after a 43-year-old farmer, Dharmveer Singh, was shot dead following a dispute related to agricultural land boundaries, police said on Thursday.

The incident involved members of the same extended family and has left the village in shock.

Initial investigation suggests Singh visited his field on Wednesday evening and found that the boundary separating his land from that of his cousin, Lalta Prasad, had been altered. He went to Mr Prasad's residence around 9 pm to discuss the matter.

A verbal confrontation took place, which quickly escalated. Lalta Prasad and his three sons-Mohan, Akash, and Luv-allegedly assaulted the victim and then opened fire on him.
