Lakhimpur Kheri, Oct. 22 -- A major accident was narrowly averted in Lakhimpur Kheri when a double-decker AC bus caught fire at the Maigalganj crossroads early on Wednesday morning. Within minutes, the bus turned into a blazing inferno, injuring at least six passengers.
According to reports, the bus had halted at a roadside eatery for a tea and breakfast break while en route from Sitapur to Delhi with 45 passengers on board. As passengers were disembarking, smoke began emerging from the engine. Panic spread rapidly among those on the bus and on the ground.
