Nagpur/Wardha, Feb. 17 -- A fire incident was reported in a coach of the New Delhi-Chennai (Tambaram) Grant Trunk Express in Maharashtra's Wardha district on Tuesday morning, railway authorities confirmed.
According to the officials train number 12616 departed from Nagpur earlier in the day and was en route to Chennai when smoke was noticed in the rear guard coach at around 11:09 am.
The train was approaching Sindi railway station at the time of the incident.
Acting promptly, railway staff halted the train between the Sindi and Tuljapur section.
The affected coach was swiftly detached from the rest of the rake and fire brigade personnel were alerted to manage the situation.
