Nanded, Oct. 7 -- A fire broke out in a compartment of the Medchal Express today, triggering panic among passengers, but a major tragedy was averted due to the prompt action of railway staff.
Preliminary reports suggest that the fire started because of a short-circuit in garbage accumulated near the coach toilet.
According to sources, train staff immediately applied the emergency brake upon noticing the flames, bringing the train to a halt and alerting the fire brigade. The quick response of the railway staff and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) helped extinguish the fire before it could spread. Fortunately, no passengers were injured, and the train sustained no significant damage.
