Anakapalli (Andhra Pradesh), Dec. 29 -- A major tragedy was averted early Monday when a fire broke out in Train No. 18189 Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express near Elamanchili Railway Station in Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh as railway staff and fire services acted swiftly and ensured that all passengers were safely evacuated, officials said.

The incident occurred at around 00:45 hrs, during which B1 and M2 coaches were engulfed by fire.

Railway staff acted promptly, informed the fire brigade, and then helped with the safe evacuation of passengers as fire services brought the blaze under control.

The two affected coaches were detached, while one additional AC III Tier coach (M1) was also detached as a precautionary measure.
