Patna, March 20 -- Chairman of 16th Finance Commission Arvind Panagariya on Thursday said that the Commission had no jurisdiction to consider special status demand for Bihar.
Panagariya told media persons here that the Finance Commission had no jurisdiction to consider special status demands for Bihar. It was for the Central government to take a call on such demands and find ways including legal measures, he stressed.
It may be recalled here that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been demanding special status for the state for long. Kumar had himself raised the issue before 15th Finance Commission headed by N K Singh.
