Bengaluru, Feb. 12 -- Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Wednesday stated that there is no universally accepted definition of a sixth-generation aircraft, adding that slight improvements to fifth-generation aircraft are often misinterpreted as sixth-generation capabilities.
Speaking at Aero India, Gen Chauhan emphasised that a true sixth-generation aircraft is envisioned as a platform capable of manned and unmanned teaming, functioning as an aerial command post. "Such an aircraft would be able to control multiple assets, including UAVs and swarm drones, to execute combat operations in an advanced manner," he said.
