Sitapur, Dec. 26 -- A father and son duo were shot dead on Friday evening in Sitapur district, allegedly due to an old rivalry, local police said. The incident caused panic in the area.
The victims were identified as Chhote Khan alias Akhtar (65) and his son Maisar Khan (45), residents of Fatepur village under Imalia Sultanpur police station limits. Police rushed them to the district hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
According to police, the killings followed a dispute between Akhtar and Ramu, son of Thakur, over a land boundary issue. The two sides had clashed on Thursday, after which police booked both parties under preventive sections and sent them to jail.
