Srinagar, Jan. 8 -- Veteran politician and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said he was saddened by the direction in which the country was heading. His remarks came in the backdrop of the National Medical Council (NMC) cancelling recognition of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME).

Speaking to media, Abdullah said the withdrawal of permission was "injustice" and reflected the manner in which the nation was progressing.

"Yes, it is injustice. Definitely. I am sad about it - the way our nation is going," he said.
