Srinagar, Sept. 26 -- National Conference president Farooq Abdullah today appealed to the Centre to immediately engage with the people of Ladakh following violent clashes in Leh that left four dead and dozens injured.
He said years of "unfulfilled promises" and "stalled" demands for statehood and Sixth Schedule protections pushed peaceful protesters to take to the streets.
Abdullah described the unrest as the tragic outcome of "five years" of Gandhian methods, including hunger strikes and long marches, to press their demands.
