Beed, March 24 -- The district administration has directed all sugar factories to clear pending sugarcane bills and Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) payments by the end of April, bringing relief to distressed farmers.
District Collector Vivek Johnson issued firm instructions that the dues must be credited directly to farmers' bank accounts within the stipulated timeframe.
The decision follows a strong protest by farmers who, angered by the delay in payments, stopped the Collector's vehicle to press their demands.
Taking serious note of the agitation, the administration convened an urgent meeting with sugar factory officials on Friday to address the issue.
