Chandigarh, Dec. 5 -- Farmers' protests over electricity reforms and land policies triggered widespread disruption across Punjab on Saturday, as demonstrators blocked railway tracks in several districts, leading to clashes, detentions, and train cancellations.
Protesters gathered in large numbers on tracks in Ferozepur, Jalandhar, and Amritsar, where sit-ins were held from the morning hours.
In Ferozepur, tension escalated when police attempted to clear the tracks, resulting in a brief scuffle. Authorities in Ludhiana and Jalandhar detained dozens of farmers attempting to reach major junctions.
