Ch. Sambhajinagar, Dec. 29 -- A shocking case of abduction and murder has surfaced in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district where a 45-year-old farmer was killed after kidnappers allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore, an official said on Monday.
The incident took place in Bodwad area of Sillod taluka, sending shockwaves through the region. Police have arrested five suspects in the case.
The victim, identified as Tukaram Madhavrao Gawhane, was allegedly kidnapped around 8 pm on Saturday while returning home on a motorcycle after collecting payment for maize supplied to a trader in Undangaon earlier that evening. When he failed to return, his son filed a missing complaint at Ajintha Police Station late at night.
